12 Tips to make your YouTube videos rank on Google

You can’t just upload a video on social platforms and expect to attract a large number of viewers and subscribers. There are many factors and methods to consider to make your channel more attractive to your target audience.

At first, you have to find out what kind of video content to make. Will your videos promote your brand, or will they be educational or entertaining? If you are promoting your brand, consider whether you can include educational or entertainment content. If you do not have content for your benefit, your audience will not find your YouTube channel in Google searches.

Need more suggestions? Below are some cool tips to help you rank your YouTube videos on Google.

  1. Increase YouTube View & Subscribers

If you have a new YouTube channel, it can take months or even years to create. The easiest way to boost your channel rankings is to increase YouTube views and subscribers

Paid views do not automatically convert to followers and likes. You still need to give people a reason to like and subscribe your channel. If you took our initial advice and made immersive videos for your channel, your paid views should quickly turn into followers and likes.

Of course, you can take it a step further and gain followers and likes. But, start with Google Ads because it will like followers and later more natural.

2. Use Video metadata

Note that YouTube is a subsidiary of Google. If you learn to enter the correct title, description, and tag for each YouTube video you upload, your videos will rank faster on Google. This is a form of search engine optimization, but the difference is that you are doing it for YouTube videos, not webpages.

Every time you upload a video, you will be prompted to enter information about it. Since YouTube does not know what is in your video, it scans your video file’s metadata to get information about it. For example, the default video name is normally taken from the video file name. YouTube will also check the tags, comments, and subtitles associated with the file.

Right-click the video file on your laptop or desktop computer and click Properties. Select the Details tab, and you will see a list of metadata for the file. If the hierarchical lines are empty, fill the video SEO information in those lines. Enter a title, tag, description, comment, and so on.

When you upload a video, YouTube will detect this information and connect it to the system. Then it will rank better on Google.

3. Create Relavent playlist

Many YouTube content creators forget about the playlist feature. When you upload many different videos, you can distribute videos with the same content as playlists. YouTube’s algorithm has a better chance of knowing what your videos are when placed in a playlist.

This way, searching on Google or YouTube will make it easier for your target audience to find these videos. This translates into more views, more likes, and more followers than expected. Ensure that you fill in all the information in your playlist while creating it.

YouTube will then ask you to create keywords, descriptions, and titles for your playlist. This is the same information that you fill in for the video. Use keywords and phrases that represent the video niche.

4. Make a video for at least 60 seconds.

YouTube’s algorithm is primarily visual-oriented. If they get more views, Google will boost the ranking of videos on pages of search results. But in recent years, changes have been made to the algorithm that has added more requirements for better video ranking. One requirement concerns the length of the video.

Make sure you are making a video that is at least 60 seconds long. Videos under 60 seconds are considered spam by the algorithm. YouTube favors longer videos because people will spend more time watching them. As soon as “minutes of view” accumulate in your videos, Google starts growing them.

This is why popular videos appear on top of Google. These are shared with a large number of people and accumulate millions of viewing minutes over several days. Google will always prioritize videos with more viewers in a shorter time frame. If you can make a popular video, you will get more traffic on your YouTube channel than ever before.

5. Provide Video description and tag.

File metadata is not the only thing you need to worry about when uploading. When you upload a video to YouTube, you will be prompted to enter a title, description, and tag on the upload screen.

Do not just enter tags. You must do keyword research to find the most popular keywords in your niche. Paste these keywords in the tag section of the download page. Add those keywords to your description, but make sure they come naturally throughout the conversation. Do not just insert keywords in the description, or your YouTube account will be flagged.

6. Share video on social media.

Google is very social media marketing friendly. If you posted embedded YouTube videos on your social media page and group page, the videos will rank high on Google. Get used to upload links or upload videos every time.

You can post your videos to your Facebook fan page, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn groups. Since these platforms already rank high on Google, your embedded videos will be par with the high-quality backlinks to your YouTube channel. Google will like it.

7. Fill channel page content.

Another thing that is forgotten is the content of the channel page. YouTube allows you to add your images, links, and descriptions for your channel. We recommend that you add a link to your social media profile to your channel. This will help Google’s algorithm to link these social media pages to your YouTube channel. People will then get a list of all those pages when they search for content in the same niche.

It is also help if you to subscribe to other YouTube channels like yours. A list of the channels you have subscribed to will appear on your own channel page. Google will interpret this as a link between your channel and other channels, especially if they follow your channel. This will help you a lot in your Google ranking.

8. Use branding to raise awareness.

A professional branding is now an essential design element on all platforms, including YouTube, as it builds brand awareness, provides viewers with a recognizable view, and shows them that your YouTube channel is serious about its content.

Branding makes your channel visually appealing and instantly recognizable to your audience. And above all, it helps in setting you apart from the competition. If you already have a blog, you must already know that you can transfer it to your YouTube channel, and to do so, start making brand connections on all your platforms.

If you have a company logo, use it on your channel, but make sure it is consistent and up-to-date by reviewing some YouTube logo examples before uploading. And if you are a freelance blogger, you can always take a headshot. You can also use your branding to add links to your website and other social media platforms using links in banner images. And if your video is talking about a specific product, then use your own brand overlay. This is a powerful strategy to keep viewers in your video.

9. Add Thumbnail

Thumbnails are another important branding strategy to drive user engagement on YouTube and make your content more attractive to advertisers.

They act like mini billboards, giving viewers a quick snapshot of your video, helping them decide what to click and watch. Effectively styled icons and titles make your channel recognizable and are great for attracting more fans to your YouTube channel.

The customized icons match your video’s content, include short, catchy details (taglines) and high-quality images so viewers can instantly understand what your video is about. Your icon and title should encourage viewers to know what’s next, encouraging them to watch your video.

When you upload your video, you can either upload your icon or use the three parameters that YouTube automatically generates for you.

Also, here are some useful tips for creating your own thumbnails:

  • Include the title of the video in the thumbnail.
  • Use high-quality images.
  • Use only standard video sizes: 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720.
  • Use the following image: PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, or TIF.
  • Use a 16: 9 aspect ratio.
  • Maintain a consistent corporate identity in all miniatures.
  • Make them visually attractive and straightforward.

10. Include calls to increase action and engagement

CTA (action to call) buttons on the left encourage viewers to take the desired action, such as visiting your website, purchasing a product, or joining a mailing list. And on YouTube, they are also a great way to boost user and customer engagement.

But call to action can also be discontinued as we do not like acting. When creating your own, you should use them properly to act as a natural extension of your video. Make them clear and concise, and try to use humor in your call to action so that they don’t look like just another sales pitch. Working on CTA’s design, correcting them, getting paid, and it’s worth it.

11. Get the attention of your YouTube community.

You cannot think of YouTube as your specific social media channel. However, the platform is a community of 2 billion monthly users, a large percentage of which actively engage with content using likes and comments. As with other social networks, the more you engage with users, the better YouTube will see your channel. YouTube views any interaction as a positive sign, after all, which is how they generate revenue.

But connecting with the YouTube community helps you even more, as customers see that you are actively participating in the community, allowing you to establish a deeper connection with your audience. And to do all of this, you have to take a few seconds for the “Like” comment.

12. Promote your YouTube videos on all social networks.

There is no more reliable marketing platform than social media to cross your content and brand, and YouTube is no different. And by posting your videos online, you extend your YouTube channel’s reach to an almost endless audience.

Video sharing on social media has increasingly become a fundamental way of developing a brand as users love videos. The best thing is to be active on all your social media channels and post your latest videos in a style that matches your promoting platform.
